Huawei is the second leading Android smartphone vendor after Samsung, meaning just like its counterpart, what it chooses to do with software updates will determine how fast the new Android 9 Pie update arrives on eligible devices.

If you own any of Huawei’s smartphones or tablets and would like to know if and when your device will be upgraded to Android Pie, you’ve come to the right place. Here, we have details of Huawei Android 9 Pie update release date, what to expect when the OS arrives, the devices that are guaranteed to receive the update as well as some information that those whose devices aren’t featured in the table below will relish.

Huawei rolls out two major OS upgrades to its flagship phones in the Mate and P series, something we don’t expect to change with respect to Android Pie update. To guarantee yourself an update to Pie on your Huawei device, it must be one of the Mate 10, Mate 10 Pro, Mate 10 Porsche Design, P20, P20 Pro or the premium Mate RS Porsche Design. In fact, all of these devices, including the Honor 10, Honor V10, and Honor Play can already access the stable EMUI 9 based on Android Pie in China, with a global rollout expected very soon.

If your Huawei/Honor device isn’t any of the above and has Android Oreo running the show out of the box, you also stand a chance of getting an update to Android Pie at some point in future, however, this might not be true for entry-level devices like the Huawei Y3, Y5 and Y7 Prime 2018, all of which are based on Oreo out of the box.

It has taken a while, but we’re getting closer to avoiding the visual pain of the notch and enjoying a beautiful full-screen experience on our phones. The Honor View 20 uses the company’s All View Display , which replaces the notch with a hole punch, through which the front-facing camera looks out.

The Honor View 20 is the first internationally launched phone to use such a display, and we’re happy to say that it’s a massive success, but the phone has a lot more going for it than just the special screen. In fact, we think it’s Honor’s best phone yet, and here’s why.

Use the Honor View 20 for an hour, and you won’t notice the hole punch at all. It’s a marvel of design, perfectly implemented, and technically very impressive . It’s the solution to our notch hatred because it’s not obnoxious, doesn’t get in the way, and genuinely increases the screen-to-body ratio. Play games? You don’t see it, as your thumb mostly covers it up while you play. Simply, we never want to see another notch, and only want to see hole-punch screens. It’s a 10/10 raging success, and the first of two standout design features on the Honor View 20.

The second is the back of the phone. After years of trying, Honor has found a design that gives one of its phones an identity. It’s shockingly simple, really, as it’s just reflective V patterns running down the back of the device, but it’s so well implemented and realized that it never fails to catch your eye or make you smile. Honor calls it Light For Honor, a 300 nanometer, multi-layer super-micro pattern, and the V-shape on each shiny View 20 appears like it’s emerging from a pool of water.

The Honor View 20 is the best phone yet from Honor, and if you have one in your hands right now, we applaud your buying decision. If not, and you’re still considering buying one, take a look at our in-depth review to help make up your mind.

The Honor View 20’s 48-megapixel camera has various modes, but one of the hardest to find is also one of the most special — A.I. Ultra Clarity mode. It’s designed to enhance landscape images using artificial intelligence, and provide the best big-megapixel photo possible.

Take note that the camera app will often downgrade the resolution to 48 megapixels or 12 megapixels when you close the camera app or turn off the phone. It’s best to check to make sure you’re in the desired mode before taking a photo.

Night mode keeps the shutter open for longer to let in more light, and then stabilizes the shot using artificial intelligence to avoid blur, resulting in bright pictures taken in low light. Night mode may sound like it’s only for taking photos at night, and of course this is where it excels, but we recommend giving it  a try during the day  as well.

The Honor View 20 is flashy, powerful, and notch-less, but can it take a good photo? That’s what some people care about most when looking into a smartphone. We took the Honor View 20 around town and put it through its paces.

Honor steps into the smartphone battlefield with a large 1/2-inch sensor, 48MP resolution, a 3D sensor, a wide F/1.8 aperture, and bells and whistles (all of them). It should do amazing, but theory doesn’t always match practice, which is why we are here to give you a definitive Honor View 20 camera review.

The relationship between Honor and Huawei becomes immediately apparent when you open the View 20’s camera app. It looks just like the one in the Huawei Mate 20 Pro . This means my opinions on the app will also be identical.

The Honor View 20 camera app is pretty straightforward. There is a shutter button in the bottom, with a camera rotation icon and a preview button to its sides. Right above these functions you will find all your main modes: AR Lens, Night, Portrait, Photo, Video, and More. The More section is home to a plethora of specialized modes including Pro, Slow-mo, Panorama, Aperture, Light painting, HDR, and more.
